2024 progress report
This page reports on our progress towards our software plans for 2024.
✅ What has already been done
Ponycule and Axis have been discontinued and Chatroom will be discontinued on June 11th.
PonyCon Countdown is still hosted by Equestria.dev but not managed by us anymore.
Maretime Sans has now reached 100% Latin coverage, and is now usable for ASCII-only character sets.
Power Tools's
autopush
command has been rewritten in Rust, andthingit
has been cancelled completely.Sunny Starbot Plus has been removed and Sunny Starbot has scaled down, allowing us to save resources and energy.
Ponypush as well as the notification server have been discontinued all together.
where-rs is now available as a stable release starting with version 1.0.0. Users on 1.0.0-rc.1 are invited to upgrade.
status.equestria.dev has been rewritten in Rust and is now powering our production environment.
Wishing Star has been rewritten in Rust instead of PHP and is now powering our production environment.
The engine used by our shortened URLs service pone.eu.org has been rewritten to take advantage of Vercel's infrastructure and not use any code.
The Sunny Starbot website has switched to an hybrid cloud/on-premises infrastructure and its API rewritten in Kotlin using JetBrains's Ktor framework
The Sunny Starbot website now has a UI redesign, API version 2 and a new theme, all set to release on October 26th.
✏️ What has been partially done
Starshine and Codename Violette are set to be discontinued later this year but are being maintained in the meantime. Version 14 is in development and will be released later this year.
⌚ What remains to be done
Nothing for now! But we're thinking of making a next-generation music platform similar to Mist.
